Episode 8 - Who Are You?

Caleo storms into the house like a raging fire screaming at the top of his lungs, “Mumma! Mumma you home?”

“I’m here Caleo!” Mumma stuffs her pint of liquor under her seat cushion. “I’m in here baby.”

Caleo walks into the living room, “Ma!” and graces his mother with a big hug. They hold the embrace for a while. “Hi baby…talk to me what's going on?”

“Nothing much. Chilling.” Caleo responds nonchalantly.

“Chilling? What does that mean?” His mother looks at him with concern.

“Holding everything down since you left us. I should be the one asking questions, like where have you been all this time. Why did you leave like that?” Caleo says with an attitude.

“You know why I left. That girl can’t take care of the kids by herself. You forced the hand Caleo! You fucked up!” She pushed his forehead down.

“There you go! Always blaming me! You never choose my side! You never have my back!” He clenches his fist while defending himself. ”You left me here with all this shit over that bitch!”

“That girl ain’t did nothing to you Caleo! All she did was try to support you and take care of those babies! You damn near killed her…She should have left you the first time you hit her. You need help son! You need help.”

“Who’s gonna fucking help me? Who? You? Please, you not even here for me when I need you! My father was the only one that understood me! And he is gone!”

“That’s why you acting crazy? Cause your daddy gone? You are becoming a grown ass man and that’s something you gon have to learn for yourself! Senior can’t teach you how to become yourself! Even though he got high and put us in debt, I stayed with him and respected him til the day he died! I could’ve known better than to stay if I knew it would cause this much damage! Introducing you to drugs and street life! I WANT BETTER FOR YOU!” Mumma pushes his forehead down again, “I trust you to support this family and you over here beating down your brothers and your sister? How dare you! Who the hell do you think you are?!”

“YOU LEFT! YOU LEFT US! AND YOU TOOK MY KIDS AWAY! THIS IS YOUR BULLSHIT COMING BACK TO HAUNT US! YOU NEVER LOVED ME!” Caleo screams back.

“You are the spitting image of your father! Thinking somebody owe you something for your problems! That’s why you selling drugs and doing this? Huh? Cause of me? You mustve lost your damn mind boy!” Mumma checks him. “I invested all that money for you to go to college and do football and you turn around, drop out to spit in my fucking face…How dare you!”

“College wasn’t going to keep me out these streets Ma! College wasn’t gonna take care of my kids! I was trying to be a good dad and you took that away from me!” Caleo expresses.

“You being a good dad ended when you put your hands on Quisha!”

“Fuck this shit! Im out of here! You clean up the mess this time.” He tries to walk away and Mumma grabs him firmly, “Where the fuck do you think your going?”

“Let me go!” He tugs from her grip, and Mumma pops him continuously in the head with the palm of her hand. “Oww! Stop!” Caleo blocks her blows. She takes off her slipper and starts beating him. “Uh uh! You aint too grown! Come here…”

Caleo blocks her blows, he won’t dare hit her back, “Ma stop! Im outta here! Let me go!”

Cory walks in the living room from hearing the commotion from upstairs, “Ayo, ma in here beating up Caleo!” He yells upstairs. The siblings ran downstairs like it was a drill. “MA!”

“Get this bitch off me yo!” Corey tries to pull ma off him; he catches a few whacks. Mumma continues her fit, “Uh uh! You wanna beat on somebody…beat on me then!” She finally let’s Caleo go…he storms out of the house and jets into his Mazda.

“Ma chill out! What you doing?” Corey grabs her hands and pushes her down into the seat and the bottle of liquor hits the ground.”

“Mumma! You still drinking?” I pick the bottle up off the floor and death stares my mother. Hell no! This bitch still drinking.
